Prayers

A Prayer for the Poor

Dear Father in heaven, in the days and years remaining to me in this life, I shall find myself called upon to come to the assistance of those who lack sufficient food or clothing, or who need a place to live, or who need work. May I always find a way to follow the promptings of my conscience to help others whose humanity is diminished by the desperate conditions of their lives. Let me remember that you showed your love especially to the poor, and warned the rich that their wealth was an obstacle to holiness.

Amen

Harvest of Hope Prayer

We praise you and we offer you our efforts this day. As we strive to serve you, we are grateful for the talents you have given us and we ask that you send your Holy Spirit to guide and inspire us. The honor of the task you have given us humbles and also excites us, and we know your Grace is with us as a community.

Thank you for bringing us together today. Thank you for the fellowship and friendship we experience in this community. And thank you for the joys of working together. We ask that you continue to help us put together our Harvest of Hope, and  that you grant us all the opportunity to feel your presence as we serve your poor.

We prayer in the name of your son, Jesus Christ.

Amen
